In August, Club for Growth asked the Federal Communications Commission to let political callers place AI-powered robocalls to cell phones without the called person’s consent. The FCC asked for public comment in CG Docket No. 02-278, its docket for the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, with replies due by October 19, 2026.

StillFaxing.com filed reply comments asking the FCC to deny the petition, or else to send it to the FCC’s commissioners for a vote. We pay for every call our fax numbers receive, whether or not it’s a fax. The petition gives callers no way to tell a number like ours from a cell phone, so the change would likely bring more AI-powered robocalls to numbers like ours. We also argued that the petition agrees the calls should be free to the people receiving them but never says how, and the FCC has made that a condition of every past exemption like this one.

We hope our efforts will protect our business and the average consumer alike from these calls.
